A Bears for Cares Book DON’T MONKEY AROUND WITH OUR WORLD! Newest Title in the Bears for Cares Series of Children’s Books Now Available for World Chimpanzee Day July 14, 2021 ‘Jenny the Chimpanzee’
Hudson Valley, NY (May 20, 2021)— “Today I have a story to tell. A story that I know so very well. The story of how we came to be. Told by no other than Jenny the Chimpanzee.” Thus, starts the delightful new “Jenny the Chimpanzee” book (Eifrig Publishing 26 p. $14.99 hardcover, $9.99 softcover) authored by 19-year-old Lotus Kay who is a passionate advocate for animals, the environment and endangered species.
Available now in time for World Chimpanzee Day July 14, 2021, the book won a Gold Award from Mom's Choice being named among the best in family-friendly media, products and services.
“Jenny the Chimpanzee” is told in rhyme and encourages young readers to learn about the history and origins of human evolution told by a chimpanzee named Jenny. And they will be reminded of how interconnected humans are with all other wildlife on this planet. As Lotus writes: “So let’s make sure that we care for each other’s safety. No matter who you are. Whoever you may be. Whether you are a human or a chimpanzee.”
Illustrated by Chey Diehl, “Jenny the Chimpanzee” is the latest release in the Bears for Cares book series and campaign founded by Kay and her sister Jazmin on Endangered Species Day as a project of Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots youth service program. The campaign aims to educate children about the state of wildlife and our earth, and what they can do to make a difference and create a more compassionate world.
An added bonus to “Jenny the Chimpanzee” are inspirational quotes from world-renowned ethologist and environmentalist Dr. Jane Goodall, considered to be the world's foremost expert on chimpanzees.
Upon receiving the books, Lotus received the following note from Dr. Jane Goodall, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots. “Dear Lotus, It is fantastic that you are writing these books – thank you so much for sending me some copies, including, of course, Jenny. And it is such a good idea to have soft toys with them. Children’s books are really important – and even more so because of the pandemic. Congratulations.”
Other books in the series include “More Beautiful Than Heaven,” “Billie the Octopus,” and “A Thanksgiving for the Turkeys.”
Bears for Cares books are also available with stuffed animals based on characters in the books in partnership with toy company Hugg-a-Planet: Beary the Polar Bear (in “More Beautiful Than Heaven”), Billie the Octopus, Milo the Turkey and Jenny the Chimpanzee.
